Covers the period in history beginning with Prehistoric Man and continues through the period of the Renaissance and Protestant Reformation. Also included in the curriculum are the Neolithic Revolution, the Ancient Civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, the emergence of belief systems, the Trading Kingdoms of West Africa, the Middle Ages, and the Byzantine Empire. If students score below a 70 on the “parallel assessment” they will be placed in Academic Intervention Services the following year.
GLOBAL HISTORY II
Continues with the Age of Absolutism through to modern topics and current events. Also included in the curriculum are the Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution, the French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, Age of Imperialism, the World Wars, revolutions of the 20th
Century, Communism, human rights violations and conflicts in the Middle East,
Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In addition current issues such as world
hunger, the environment, international terrorism, status of Women’s rights,
poverty, population pressures, endangered species, and science and technology
will be covered.
