This course measures knowledge about the major influences on the development
of our nation since 1865. Topics include the Constitution, basic government
principles, industrialization, urbanization, westward expansion, immigration,
the growth of civil liberties, and the role played by the United States in world affairs.
Study of major historical events and significant individuals and groups is required.
Students develop the skills and knowledge to be informed, effective citizens in our
democracy. Students are required to take a Regents exam at the completion of the course.
