NYS enacted the Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program in 1997 (chapter 436 of the Laws of 1997). The law enables school districts and other providers to offer all four-year-olds an opportunity to participate in a high-quality early education program at a school or other appropriate community-based facility.
The Corinth Central School District is anticipating funding for 4 placements in the 2020-2021 school year. These slots will be for half-day programs. All children who are 4 years of age on or before December 1, 2020, and who are legal residents of Corinth are eligible to attend at no cost to parents.
This year the program will be offered through Rainbow Nursery School. The classes will be rich in literacy, social interaction, school readiness, motor skills, and early intervention for those children in need.
If there are more applicants than placements, a lottery system will be used to select those children who will participate in the program this year.
Applications can be requested by calling (518) 654-2960 or stop by Corinth Elementary School to pick one up. Applications are due to the Elementary School by December 17, 2020. Parents will be notified if their child has been selected by December 22, 2020.
