On Friday, March 1, Corinth Central High School student Maria Mangini, signed a ceremonial letter of intent to join the D1 Women’s Swimming and Diving team at St. Bonaventure University when she heads to college in the fall. The ceremony took place in the Board of Education room in the Middle School with family, friends, faculty and administrators on hand to cheer on the graduating senior.
“One thing that has never changed with Maria is her enthusiasm for swimming, her enthusiasm for leadership, and her efforts in and out of the pool,” said Corinth High School Principal Brian Testani. “I’m really proud of the way she has conducted herself at Corinth and in the community.”
The swimmer thanked her family, coach, teammates and school administrators for their support through the years.
“Without their guidance and them pushing me to be the best I can, I wouldn’t be able to be sitting in this position today,” said Maria.
Maria has been swimming with the Schenectady-Saratoga Sharks since she was nine-years-old and says they’ve become like her family.
“I love being with my team,” said Maria. “Even though swimming is an individual sport, we all support one another and help to make each other the best we can be.”
Maria is the first student from Corinth since 2013 to sign a letter of intent with a D1 school.
Congratulations to Maria on all of her hard work. Go Tomahawks!
