FIRE PREVENTION WEEK, OCTOBER 4TH-8TH
This year's theme is Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety. Reminder: If you hear a chirp, make a change. A chirping alarm mean the battery, or the entire alarm must be replaced.
What’s the difference between smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms? Why do I need both?
Smoke alarms sense smoke well before you can, alerting you to danger. In the event of fire, you may have as little as 2 minutes to escape safely, which is why smoke alarms need to be in every bedroom, outside of the sleeping areas (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement). Do not put smoke alarms in your kitchen or bathrooms.
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that displaces oxygen in your body and brain and can render you unconscious before you even realize something is happening to you. Without vital oxygen, you are at risk of death from carbon monoxide poisoning in a short time. CO alarms detect the presence of carbon monoxide and alert you so you can get out, call 9-1-1, and let the professionals check your home.

COVID TESTING FOR SYMPTOMATIC STUDENTS
We are excited to be able to offer COVID testing to students that are symptomatic in school. As mentioned in Dr. Stratton's letter there are two components families need to do in order for this to be available. One of them is to complete this online form with our testing company. Please complete this form as soon as possible, it will take about 10 minutes but only needs to be done once. This will add you to the testing system and allow you to receive live information on your child's testing status. The second element is to complete the consent to test form that was sent home with the letter. This should be returned to your building office.
Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 22nd and 23rd. Students will have half days, and conferences will be scheduled in the afternoon.
School Not in Session
November 11th: Veterans' Day
November 24th - 26th: Thanksgiving Recess
CAFETERIA SCAN & GO PROGRAM
The cafeteria staff have implemented the use of barcode scanners at our registers as an alternative to using pin pads. All students have an ID card and a plastic protective holder. Using this method will help speed up the lunch line and allow students more time to sit and enjoy their lunch. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Tevendale at 654-9005, ext. 3114.
Our PTSA will have a stand set up at the festival. We hope to see you there!
