Corinth CSD students who wish to participate in the National School Walkout planned for Wednesday, March 14, will have the opportunity to gather in the school auditorium to honor the victims of the Parkland shooting and show their support for school safety.
Corinth students who have expressed an interest in the walkout have been working with high school Principal Brian Testani to collaboratively plan an event that allows for the peaceful, respectful expression of student viewpoints while preserving student safety. For the safety and well-being of students, the district does not condone students leaving the school building for this event.
On March 14, students who wish to participate in the walkout can inform their teacher and will be allowed to travel to the auditorium shortly before 10 a.m. Once assembled, students will observe a moment of silence. Students will then lead discussions about issues surrounding gun violence and school safety. The gathering in the auditorium will be supervised, and will conclude after about 20 minutes.
Just as at any school event, the safety and well-being of students can best be safeguarded when students, teachers, parents and administrators work together and cooperate. Parents who have questions or concerns are invited to contact building principals. We appreciate your continued support in this and all matters.
