Seniors Explore Real-World Working Conditions

The seniors in Mr. Bruno’s ELA class have been following author Barbara Ehrenreich around the country as she goes undercover to see how people making minimum wage try to survive on their limited income.

"This has been an eye-opening experience as they realize that the world she is visiting is a world they will be thrust into after graduation in June," Mr. Bruno explained.

Seniors have "traveled" to Florida, learning the ins and outs of the food service industry; to Maine to learn about the house cleaning industry; and to Minnesota to see a job at Walmart.

"They picked their state and had a group presentation that lasted over 20 minutes," Mr. Bruno explained, adding, "So far the presentations have been exceptional."
