Safety

Please join us on  Wednesday , September 20th at 6 pm in the Oak St. Cafeteria as we kick off our first Community Information Night of the year.

September’s topic is Get Connected: Keeping Children Safe Online.  We will be joined by Mr. Derek Tefft of the Saratoga Center for the Family for this engaging presentation.  This hour-long  program is geared towards parents, caregivers and community members.

Parenting in a world where technology is a part of our everyday lives can be extremely tough, no matter the age of your child.  While there are many benefits to using technology, there are also many risks that can negatively impact your child’s development and safety.

“Get Connected” aims to empower parents and caregivers to support and protect their children while navigating their online lives and discusses the following topics:

 ·        Trends in online/social media use among children and youth

·        Both positive and negative impact of technology on child development

·        Potential risks and dangers associated with going online

·        How to recognize and respond to concerning or unsafe online behavior

·        Games/apps to be aware of including parenting/monitoring apps

·        Tips and resources to start and sustain productive conversations about online safety”

Please reach out to Mrs. Jenkins or Mrs. Bills in the Counseling Office with any questions, (518)654-9005.
