Saratoga Showcase of Homes presents the Female Student Shed Build Event
spotlighting Women in the Trades.
The construction trades present nearly limitless opportunities for all students,
including those who may not have considered pursuing a construction-related
career. Today’s students are discovering all this field has to offer.
Come view the work of all-female student teams from 6 area schools as each team
builds a 6x8 ft. shed during the Saratoga Showcase of Homes – all at the same
time, all on one lot, all in one day! Each team will be led by females in the building
industry and supported by local construction professionals.
Why: To raise awareness of opportunities in the construction trades for all students.
When: Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Rain Date Oct.15)
Where: 16 Indigo Way, Wilton, vacant lot next to Kodiak Construction Showcase Home
Who: Six teams of four, 9th & 10th grade female students from local participating
schools (Stillwater, Greenwich, Corinth, Mechanicville, Northville & more).
The event will be advertised as another stop on the Showcase of Homes tour and
advertised through all Showcase media outlets. Activities are being planned
to kick-off and conclude the event with media coverage. The sheds will be auctioned off on-line through the Showcase of Homes website. Proceeds will go to support the Workforce Development Coalition, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, and the local Habitat for Humanity.
