Shed Event

The next generation of female builders put on their tool belts and hard hats at the Saratoga Showcase of Homes women’s shed building event!  Corinth sent a group of four ninth and tenth grade female students to work with a local construction company, LeChase Construction, to build a shed that will be auctioned off for charity.

The ladies did a great job learning about all the elements used to build a shed from two amazing female employees from LeChase Construction.  They learned how to measure and level walls, use nail guns, power and hand tools, all while maintaining industry standard safety procedures.   Most importantly, they had fun!

What started out as a pile of lumber, was soon transformed by our students into a beautiful shed.

Each one of the participants engaged in hands-on learning and left the event with an appreciation for how successful women in the construction trades truly are.  Our students spent 6 hours working on a beautiful Saturday before they all attended our homecoming dance that evening.  What a great event.  Thank you to the Saratoga Builders Association, Curtis Lumber, and WSWHE Boces for inviting us to participate in this outstanding event.
