Counseling Office
Our K-12 Counseling Department is staffed by four school counselors, two social workers and a School Psychologist, as well as one full time secretary. An annual plan is developed listing the services provided for students, parents, teachers and the community. The plan is approved by the Board of Education and is available for review upon request.
A School Social Worker, or Licensed School Social Worker, is responsible for supporting students and advocating for their emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. Their duties may include counseling students, connecting at-risk youth with helpful resources and conducting home visits to provide additional support.
School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
School counselors are certified/licensed educators. School counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. They lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school's academic mission and school improvement plan.
School counselors work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all. School counselors help all students: apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, apply interpersonal skills and plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, work force).
