Staff Spotlight - Dianna Lum

In the classroom, she’s a historian. In the hallways, she’s a mentor. In the stands, she’s an ever-present supporter. This month, we are thrilled to spotlight Dianna Lum, a Social Studies educator whose commitment to students goes far beyond the curriculum.

If you’ve ever walked past her room, you know it’s a space where Global Studies and ELA are intertwined, but more importantly, it’s a space where students feel seen. While she spends her days navigating the complexities of world history and interpersonal skills, with a little yoga thrown in, Mrs. Lum has made it her personal mission to ensure her students are as healthy and happy as they are educated.

For Mrs. Lum, the world is the ultimate classroom. As a veteran of the Social Studies department, she knows that empathy is built through experience. To bridge that gap, she has spearheaded numerous overseas cultural trips, taking students from the cobblestone streets of Europe to the bustling markets of Asia. In the upcoming months, she will be leading a new group of students to explore the ancient history of Greece.

Her leadership doesn't end when the school bell rings. As a class advisor, she can be found helping organize prom, planning unique fundraisers, or simply offering a quiet place to vent. She treats her students like people first and learners second, proving that when a student feels supported, academic success naturally follows.
