The Corinth Central School District community came together Tuesday evening, August 25, for the annual Corinth C.A.R.E. Back-to-School Fair, a special event designed to help students and families prepare for the new school year while connecting them with resources, community organizations and one another.
Organized by the Corinth C.A.R.E. Committee, the event provided students with grade-level school supplies, Riverhawk T-shirts and water bottles, toiletries and other items to help them start the school year feeling prepared. Families also enjoyed free ice cream from Dairy Haus, connected with local organizations and community partners, and had the opportunity to enter raffles and learn about resources available to support students and families.
Free back-to-school haircuts were available throughout the evening, with four local stylists working back-to-back to provide more than 20 haircuts to students. Additional gift cards donated by local stylists were raffled off, giving even more students the opportunity to receive a free haircut as they prepare for the new school year.
Students also had the opportunity to visit the Saratoga Children’s Literacy League book bus and choose free books to take home. Other activities and giveaways throughout the evening helped make the event a welcoming and fun way for families to kick off the new school year together.
Students who missed the registration deadline were also welcome to attend. A surplus table allowed them to select available school supplies, ensuring that additional students could benefit from the resources provided through the event.
Kerry Giumarra, Corinth CSD school social worker and president of the Corinth C.A.R.E. Committee, expressed her appreciation for the C.A.R.E. Committee members, volunteers, community organizations and supporters who contributed their time, energy and resources to make the event possible. She said the opportunity to provide students with school supplies and other items, while creating a welcoming and positive experience for families, is one of the many ways the C.A.R.E. Committee works to support the Corinth school community.
It was wonderful to see our school community come together to support our students and families,” Giumarra said. “We are so grateful to everyone who donated their time, resources and energy to make this event possible and help our students start the school year feeling prepared and excited.
The Back-to-School Fair reflects the mission of Corinth C.A.R.E. to support Corinth Central School District students and families and strengthen the connection between the school and the broader community. Through events like this, the committee helps provide students with resources, opportunities and encouragement as they begin a new school year.
