Corinth Central School District is participating in TradesWork, a regional pre-CTE (Career and Technical Education) exploration program developed in partnership with WSWHE BOCES, Corinth, Lake George and Queensbury. The program is designed for students in Grades 9 and 10 who are interested in exploring skilled trades, technology, construction, business and other hands-on career pathways before selecting a full CTE program in 11th grade.
Through TradesWork, participating students visit BOCES CTE programs, meet employers and industry professionals, develop real-world employability skills and explore several career areas. The program also provides opportunities for students to learn through hands-on and project-based experiences while building connections with the regional workforce.
Corinth will select up to 10 students to participate in the collaborative program. Students will take part in visits and activities at locations including the Myers Center, Lake George, Queensbury and local businesses. The schedule includes CTE exploration, employability skills activities, career field visits and opportunities to connect with professionals and former CTE students.
The program is intended to help students better understand their interests and strengths, explore potential career pathways and make informed decisions about future CTE opportunities. Student participation is counselor-selected, with consideration given to career interests, learning style, academic context, readiness and commitment.
