Dear Families, This week our school community is focusing on the character strength of Purpose. Purpose means you have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life’s purpose. You seek to be part of something greater than yourself. Purpose gives individuals the sense that they are put on this earth for a reason and that they are somehow connected with humanity or the universe. People who possess a sense of purpose believe that they were put on earth for a reason. That reason can have all kinds of variety. It could be to create a unique invention, bring joy through art or music, or raise their children to become good people. These people have a true calling. Having a clear sense of purpose in life and believing that you’re connected to a larger meaning gives individuals strength. It allows them to persevere and find courage in trying circumstances or lead with kindness and love even when it’s not reciprocated. Those with a sense of purpose have more meaning in their life -- and are more fulfilled. To practice and encourage the character strength of purpose with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families, where together you can watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions. Please ask your student about the Positivity Project lessons, discussions and activities this week on PURPOSE! #PositivityinAction

News from the CCSD Food Services Department: "A group of our students had the chance to attend a very unique field trip yesterday. The local Tri-County Chapter of the School Nutrition Association hosted a School Food Show at the Saratoga City Center for students from 11 area school districts to sample foods from over twenty-two K-12 foodservice vendors. The students were asked to complete a survey on each item they sampled and their feedback will be shared with their school's Food Service Director as well as the Food Vendors. It was a fun and educational day for our students as they sampled new products, won some prizes and left with even more samples. Saratoga County Cornell Cooperative Extension offered agricultural information along with vendors offering NY Beef, Pork and fresh fruits and vegetables. The food vendors commented that all of the CCSD students were very respectful and took completing their survey sheets seriously. " Thank you to Mrs. Tevendale and Ms. Toniolo for chaperoning this great experience!

CHS is proud to announce that junior, Athena Macqueen, will represent our school at the American Legion Auxiliary Empire Girls State program! Participants learn about the privileges of the vote, how political parties are formed and how leaders are chosen and elected to fill the various offices – it serves to instill in them the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of the American Citizenship as they actually participate in the process. We wish Athena much success in this amazing program! Continue to make CHS proud!

A big shout out to our JV Baseball team on the diamond this evening. Here are game highlights from tonight's game: It was a HUGE win for our JV team over Lake George. They battled back down 4 runs to win 11-6. The boys battled through rain and hail to secure the first win of the season. Gage Bardin carried the team on the mound. Ashton Wright was a vacuum at short! Gavin Randall hit a 2 run single late in the top of the 6th and Collin Vincent came in to close the game out on the mound! What a great team effort to earn the "W!" Way to go Hawks!

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Class of 2015 alumnus, Noah Morgan, has been very busy since he graduated!! After 4 years in the Marines, Noah went on to study HVAC at Lincoln Technical School where he graduated top of his class. He went on to enroll at Brattleboro Community College where he studies Business Administration. He currently holds a 4.0 GPA and earned a spot on the President's List this past fall. Additionally, when not studying, he works hard to be healthier and stronger, competing in Power Lifting competitions. Noah recently competed in the VT/NH State power lifting championship where he placed 2nd in the 220lb weight class in bench, squat, and dead lift.
