Dear CCSD Families,

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means being generous to others, never being too busy to help out, and you enjoy doing good deeds for other people.

Kindness is based on the belief that everyone deserves care, attention, and compassion. Kind people think about others' needs and feelings and take action to help. They are selfless, helping others because it's the right thing to do, not for any personal gain.

People who are kind have a strong sense of duty to care for others. Their acts of kindness inspire more kindness in return.

To practice and encourage the character strength of kindness at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ where you can watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions to enhance and support our social emotional learning lessons in the classroom.

We thank you for your support. Have a wonderful week!

CHS is proud to share that we had several student musicians participate in the NEIMF this past weekend. Mrs. Crombach shared event highlights:
"Congratulations to our high school student musicians for their acceptance into the Northeast Instrumental Music Festival (NEIMF) that was held last weekend at the Courtyard Marriott in Lake George.
Representing Corinth for the third year was David Eddy on trombone; for the second year was Riley Mattison, on flute, Tristan Lozier on tenor saxophone and David Frye on trumpet and for their first year, Parker Duerr-Clark on clarinet and Stella Vanderheyden on bass clarinet. Also joining us for the festival was Haley Potavin on flute from neighboring Hadley-Luzerne and accepted for her second year, but unable to attend due to family obligations was Lila Riihimaki on clarinet.
Our musicians joined students from all over the northeast to sight-read and learn their concert program in this immersive music festival that begins with seating auditions on Thursday afternoon and followed by an evening read of the program that same night. The next two full days consist of band rehearsals and sectionals, a listen and meet and greet with the All Star Adult band (that included a 90-year-old tuba player this year) and countless laughs before culminating in their performance on Sunday afternoon. Festivals like these are amazing opportunities for our students to learn from other outstanding music educators in our region as well as to meet other musicians and form lasting friendships/connections for decades to come. I am SO very proud of these talented musicians for taking on this challenge and participating in a festival that I participated in as a student and cannot wait for them to bring back all that they have learned to our performing ensembles. Congratulations on an outstanding performance!!!"
Way to go, Riverhawks! Way to make CHS proud!

Dear CCSD families,

This week, our school community will continue our focus on the character strength of GRATITUDE. Gratitude means being aware of and grateful for good things that happen.
Gratitude is about feeling and showing thankfulness. It helps us see the good in others and in the world. People with gratitude are ready to appreciate and return kindness. Expert Robert Emmons says gratitude strengthens relationships because it makes us recognize how others support us.
Out of all 24 character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is linked to more energy, empathy, happiness, and optimism. The good news is that gratitude can be practiced and strengthened like a muscle. The more we practice it, the more benefits we get.

Please consider visiting the Postivity Project website for families to continue the discussions at home. We encourage you to ask your students about their lessons, activities and discussions on gratitude from last week and the upcoming week.

We wish our students, staff, families and community a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are thankful for you!

Our CHS Criminal Justice students visited Judge James Murphy’s Court to observe our nation’s Constitutional Bill of Rights applied in a number of criminal defendants’ cases. Students heard cases involving the 2nd Amendment, 5th, 6th Amendments, and the14th Amendment. They learned how our justice system holds people accountable for their actions while maintaining their due process rights.
Our students also observed a variety of careers in the courts that they may pursue after high school.
Thank you to the Saratoga County court for welcoming our students for this meaningful visit. Kudos to Mrs. Fay for facilitating this real-world academic experience.

Our CES grade 3 team took their learning on the road recently! The annual field trip to Via Aquarium in Schenectady enhanced their understanding of how and why people explore the sea which is an essential question in their ELA unit. Students were able to touch a sting ray, feed carp fish and engage in many exciting activities. What an exciting hands-on learning experience, bringing their ELA unit to life!
