CES has a love of reading! The Bingo for Books event was a huge success! So many students and families participated in the event and every student left with a book! A special thank you to the Elementary PTSA, and Elementary Shared Decision Making Committee for hosting this event! We would also like to thank the elementary school teachers for making book donations, the elementary school administration for purchasing phenomenal prize baskets to raffle off to families, Mrs. Hehl for donating gatorade, Hannaford for donating cups, the elementary custodial staff for always ensuring our building is ready for big events and leaving our building sparkling in the aftermath, and a big thanks to one of our favorite local pizza shops, Amore Italy Pizza, for donating several pizzas to our cause! Of course, we cannot have successful events without the support of our families! Thank you all for coming out and participating in our Bingo for Books event! Fun was had by all!

Our Modified Wrestling team finished their season this week! Coach Petteys shared some highlights from the final match:
"The modified wrestlers had a great showing in Salem on Monday to end the 23-24 season. A special shout-out to Wyatt Santella for earning his first modified win. Gage Bardin and Camdyn Moors both went undefeated on the night!
Also adding wins to their records were Riley Lamere and Landon Frazier.
This group has been working diligently since November and we’re proud to see the consistency and growth over a winter season. We look forward to watching the wrestling program continue to grow and find success. Great work Riverhawks!"

Our Boys Varsity Basketball team had a big week this week including last night's win! Coach Falkenbury shared some game highlights:

"Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on a 71 to 46 win over Doane Stuart Wednesday night. The Riverhawks jumped out a 16 to 6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The balanced scoring was led by Kaden Wright and Avery Wood with 21 points a piece, Braydin Stone had 11 points and Alex Wiseman had 8 points.
This team has been so fun to watch. They travel to Whitehall Friday night for their final league game of the season and then host Fort Edward on Saturday at 12:00 pm. Thank you again for your continued support of this great group, it is much appreciated."

Our Girls Varsity Basketball team notched TWO more wins this week! Here are Coach Hoertkorn's highlights from each game:

"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a non- league win over South Glens Falls last night. Emily Dingmon recorded a triple double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 10 steals, and 6 assists for another great all around game. She was also such a great vocal leader on the court talking with her teammates, and helping make sure everyone was on the same page.
Isabella Craig had 11 points, and continues to run the floor so well to give us a great boost of speed and some transition baskets. She also had a great game defensively, combined with Whitney and Riley to keep South High's strong shooters in check from the outside.
Taylor Stone and Caitlyn Crossman also had great games inside for us, especially on the defensive end getting rebounds, and matching the physicality of South High's post players. They combined for 10 rebounds and 5 steals.

The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a league win over North Warren last night. It was another total team effort, and the girls finished a long stretch of away games on a positive note.
Whitney Cameron led all scorers with 16 points. She also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. She has really stepped up on the defensive end anticipating to get a tip or steal. She has also been getting out and running for us, which was huge last night getting quite a few lay-ups in transition.
Emily Dingmon had another great all around game and was two points shy of another triple double. She had 8 points, 13 rebounds, 10 steals, and 6 assists. She has such a high basketball IQ that she knows where to be, or where the ball is going and is able to disrupt a pass or shot.
Taylor Stone, Riley Dumas, and Caitlyn Crossman were huge in our press stepping in front of passes, anticipating, getting a tip that led to a steal or trap that was so important in our win last night. They combined for 8 steals on the night. Taylor also had 8 points.
Isabella Craig has been working so hard on the defensive end, and is so naturally athletic she is able to frustrate any ball handler or shooter near her. She is also huge in transition for us getting out and running where her teammates will find her for an open lay-up. She also had 8 points on the night.
Every player stepped up last night, and continues to do so and improve every day. The veteran players have been so helpful to the younger players, and the younger ones are eager to learn, and work so hard. It has been such a pleasure to work with this group. Our next game is this Friday, home against Whitehall at 7pm. It is also our Senior Night."

Let's fill the bleachers, Riverhawk fans! Cheer on our girls and recognize our seniors with that great school spirit that has been present in so many games this season!! Go, RIVERHAWKS!!!

Although Korean (also called Hangul) is the official language, in many regions people speak Korean dialects. Children learn Korean and English in school and most people speak English fairly well.
Sesame seeds, chillis, kimchi and rice products are the most common ingredients in Korean dishes. Koreans mainly eat with spoons and metal chopsticks. The spoon is used for rice, stews and soups only.

Army National Guard representatives, Mr. Tony DeSena, Sergeant Ryan Schyberg and Specialist Matt Clark visited Mrs. Fay's business classes on two occasions this semester. They executed lessons on interviewing skills, leadership, communication and even discussed resilience as an important life skill. Students engaged in some hands-on activities that simulated practicing the skills needed. The guest speaker lessons supported our Positivity Project SEL curriculum as well as the NYS CDOS (Career Development and Occupational Studies) standards!

A big shout out to the Varsity Girls Basketball team for another win on Friday night! Coach Hoertkorn shared highlights of the exciting game:
"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a league win over Hartford Friday night. It was another great team effort with every player contributing.
Emily Dingmon led all scorers with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. She is such a great leader for us, and continues to show that in all areas of the game. She is always communicating with her teammates on the floor and does the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet.
Whitney Cameron followed with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals for a great game as well.
Sage Shanahan had 2 points, and 5 rebounds on the offensive end. Caitlyn Crossman had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals as she continues to see the court so well, and make so many extra effort plays, or rebound against a bigger player.
Every game I can say something about each player because they are such a hardworking group who genuinely want to improve every day and work as a team, not worrying about the spotlight. I am so lucky to coach such a wonderful group of girls, and look forward to the rest of the season! Our next game is a non- league matchup at South Glens Falls Tuesday at 7pm."

Congratulations, Lady Riverhawks! Keep up the great teamwork!

Our JV Boys had a great night on the court Friday! Coach Bowe shared some game highlights:
"The JV Boys Basketball team had a big league win Friday night vs. Hartford. It was a back and forth game from the beginning.
Ashton Wright led the team with 13 points. Aiden Pettit sealed the game with a big 3 pointer with about a minute left.
The boys faced a lot of ups and downs throughout the game but they never gave up and continued to battle. Coach Bowe is real proud of them. They never quit. We would also like to thank all the fans that came out and supported the team. The atmosphere was electric and it gave the boys a little extra boost when they needed it. Our next game is Monday night (1/29) at 5:30 PM vs. Galway."

Great job, Riverhawks! Keep up the great work!
