"The modified girls basketball team moves to 8-2 after an 18-12 victory over North Warren last night. Dakota Parker and Makenna Eastman each put up 6 points with Sam Winslow and Jennifer Ives adding to the score.

Our Wrestling teams had a big weekend on the mats. Coach Bardin and Coach Petteys shared some highlights:
"The Varsity Riverhawks had a weekend full of wrestling. We spent Friday and Saturday competing at the Ichabod Crane duals where we wrestled 8 dual meets over two days. Corinth placed fourth out of nine schools and each wrestler continues to improve as we reach the end of the season.
Each wrestler added to their varsity win count and we were able to strategically move them through weight classes to score team points when needed. We are seeing higher-intensity matches that go to the last period and the wrestlers are learning the importance of taking the first shot or only giving up 3-5 team points rather than 6.
Congratulations to sophomore Jake Lafaver who went 8-0 on the weekend earning 64 total team points. He was awarded the team's most outstanding wrestler.
Mason Rose went 3-3, Theo Gavin 2-2, Blake Cronk 4-2, Parker Duerr-Clark 1-6, Aiden Schurr 7-1, Keegan Baker 7-1, Hunter LaBrake 4-4, Ashton Moors 1-5, Kevin Procter 1-2, DJ Barnes 1-2, Kris Barnes 1-1, Darius Parnell 1-1 and John Geary 7-1.
Great job this weekend, wrestlers! We are looking forward to our last home event this Saturday for the Marty Sherman Duals where we will recognize our senior wrestlers."

Well done, athletes! We hope to fill the CHS gym with Riverhawk fans to support our wrestlers this weekend! Go, Riverhawks!!

Dear CCSD Families,

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Social Intelligence. Social intelligence means you are aware of other people’s thoughts and feelings. You understand why they do things.

Social intelligence refers to a person’s ability to understand and manage interpersonal relationships. It is distinct from a person’s IQ or “book smarts.” It includes an individual’s ability to understand, and act on, the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors of other people. This type of intelligence can take place “in the moment” of face-to-face conversations but also appears during times of deliberate thinking. It involves emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

Social intelligence helps individuals build relationships -- and is important to numerous aspects of a person’s life. It allows an individual to form friendships and alliances. And it assists a person against being taken advantage of. People with social intelligence can “read” other people’s faces and know what motivates them. Social intelligence builds over time and as a person ages. In this sense, it is similar to the character strength of perspective.

To practice and encourage the character strength of social intelligence with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!

Our Varsity Boys Basketball Team notched another TWO wins this weekend! Coach Falkenbury shared a few highlights from each exciting match-up:
"Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team on a win over Fort Edward 49 to 39 Friday night. Braydin Stone and Hunter Shanahan each scored 15 points to pace the Riverhawks. Braydin Stone also had 6 assists and Hunter Shanahan had 13 rebounds. After a 25 to 24 first half, the Riverhawks aggressively held the Forts to 15 total points in the second half. The offense did a great job of moving the basketball and finding the open shot. This was the 4th win in a row for this hard working group.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Basketball team on a thrilling win over Warrensburg on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks came out very intense on both ends of the court. The ball movement on offense and the aggressive defense held the Burgers to 17 first half points.
The defensive end of the court was led by Kaden Wright, Michael Petteys and Alex Wiseman. Leading the charge on offense was Avery Wood. He hit some big shots and led the team with 26 points. He scored 20 of his 26 points in the second half. Kaden Wright had 15 points, Braydin Stone had 10 points 7 assists and Hunter Shanahan had 8 points and 13 rebounds. Warrensburg got within one point to make it 40 to 39. Corinth showed much poise and hit timely shots along with great defense to go on a 23 to 9 run to end the game. This was the 5th win in a row for the team. The boys have come a long way in the last 3 weeks. Come support them on January 26th when they host Hartford. "

WOW! Way to go, Riverhawks!

The JV boys basketball team continued adding to their win streak on Saturday. They beat Warrensburg 48-21. The boys had a great team effort. Everyone contributed on the defensive end. Aiden Pettit and Carter Hoffman - Robarge both had 9 points. Every player on the team scored a basket.

It was another great win for our Varsity Girls BB team last night! Coach Hoertkorn shared some great highlights from the game:
"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a non- league win over Schuylerville last night after another great start and team effort.
Emily Dingmon was two assists shy of a triple double. She had 13 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals for another great all around game.
Isabella Craig followed with 9 points and 2 steals. Her quickness and ability to run the floor always force the defense to get back.
Taylor Stone had 8 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal. She has been doing such a great job defensively, getting good looks on offense, and when she draws multiple defenders she has been finding her open teammate.
Kenadee Flint had a nice game shooting the ball with two threes in the second quarter to help extend our lead. She finished with 7 points and 4 rebounds. Caitlyn Crossman, Whitney Cameron, and Riley Dumas combined for 16 points. They continue to be great leaders, and see the court so well.
Sage Shanahan had a great night on the boards with 8 rebounds.
It was another total team effort, and I continue to be so proud of the progress every day. Our next game is Tuesday, at 7pm in Mayfield."
Congratulations to our Varsity Lady Riverhawks! Keep up the hard work!

Dear CCSD Families,

This week, our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Perseverance. Perseverance means you complete what you start despite obstacles. You never give up.
The concept of perseverance can most often be found in one’s active pursuit of overcoming obstacles. Perseverance is a uniquely human characteristic that identifies an individual’s ability to spend long periods of time devoted to a single goal or set of goals. People demonstrating high levels of perseverance can handle significant, sometimes repeated, setbacks in pursuit of goals.
Those who persevere through setbacks often reap the benefits of the success gained by refusing to give up. Sometimes, this comes with the added benefit of increased knowledge and skill as a result of the work needed to achieve. A single group member’s ability or willingness to persevere can substantially impact those working with them and the team. Groups that show high levels of perseverance can achieve goals they may not have believed possible.
To practice and encourage the character strength of perseverance with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you can watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.

Additionally, January 16th is Corinth's own Random Act of Kindness Day begun by a family in our community! Please consider an extra act of kindness on Tuesday in honor of #RAOK2024!

Have a wonderful week!
