Our first graders went on an exciting field trip on Friday to the Charles Wood Theater in Glens falls for a live performance of Colorworld based on a book by Anthony Richichi. Students were excited to meet a superhero, Captain Tony, created by a little boy named Henry, in a dynamic stage adaptation of the book.
In addition to supporting our NYS ELA standards, Colorworld supports our social emotional learning curriculum (The Positivity Project), anti-bullying initiatives and our recent assemblies by Sweethearts and Heroes when students learned how to be superheroes for their peers.
What an exciting experience for our first grade students! Thank you to all who made this field trip possible, bringing classroom learning to life! #RiverhawkProud

Our JV Boys Basketball team had a great win on the road last night! Coach Bowe shared a few highlights from the game:
"The JV boys basketball team played an outstanding game and beat Hartford 57-24 Friday night. The team only had 6 players and they all contributed throughout the night. They all played great full court defense and forced Hartford to turn the ball over throughout the whole night. Every player did a great job on the offensive end. They were patient and ran the offense well. Carter Hoffman-Robarge finished with 18 and Jake Hughes followed up with 16 points.
The boys worked very hard. They did not let a small bench hold them back. They played with great energy in all 4 quarters. This team has grown so much throughout the season and has a lot to look forward to in their basketball careers. Keep up the great work!!"
Congratulations, Riverhawks! We wish you continued success on the road again today!! (Photos from a recent home game)

Dear CCSD Families,
This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Perseverance. Perseverance means completing what you start despite obstacles. It means never giving up.
People who show perseverance keep trying, even when they face challenges. They stay focused on their goals and work hard, even when things don't go as planned. Those who persevere often achieve great things because they don't quit. They also learn a lot and get better at what they do.
Perseverance can also inspire others. When one person in a group keeps going despite setbacks, it can motivate the whole team to keep trying and reach their goals.
To practice and encourage the character strength of perseverance at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families: https://posproject.org/p2-for-families/ where you can watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Please consider asking your student about the daily social emotional learning lessons, discussions and activities.
Have a good week!
