Our Boys Modified Basketball team defeated Argyle earlier this week! Here are some highlights from Coach Fabian:
"Congratulations to the boys modified basketball team on their win over Argyle with a final score of 42-36. The boys played a very aggressive hard fought game on both ends of the court. The team was lead by Charlie Morey with 13 points followed by Jaxson Weaver with 9 and Jake Hughes with 8. Multiple players contributed to put points on the board for the Riverhawks. The entire team showed great improvement for our second game of the season and we look forward to a great year on the court."
Way to go, Riverhawks!

Our Girls Varsity Basketball team kicked off league play by earning the "W" on Friday night! Here are some highlights from Coach Hoertkorn:
"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a league win over Lake George last night after a very slow start offensively. We struggled to score in the first half, but our defense kept us in the game.
Taylor Stone had a great game on both ends of the floor. She recorded a double- double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. She was such a leader out there, and contributed to many stops and hustle plays on defense.
Whitney Cameron stepped up huge in the second half. She had 11 points, and contributed 8 steals.
Riley Dumas had 7 points, but two of those baskets were huge in the fourth quarter when we were trying to maintain a lead. She has also been a calming force for us at the defensive end all season.
Caitlyn Crossman and Isabella Craig were great on both ends of the floor all game. Isabella contributed 8 steals and 6 rebounds, while Caitlyn had 7 rebounds, and just seems to always know where to be to help get a stop.
Sage Shanahan stepped up when called upon and played great defense for us against an athletic Lake George team.
We are so proud of how this team responded to a very rough start. They didn’t hang their heads when shots weren’t falling. They trusted our defense to continue to get stops until our offense picked up. We are excited to see how much this team will continue to grow. Our next game is next Wednesday, 12/13 at Granville."

Keep up the great work, Lady Riverhawks!!

This season promises to be another great one for our Girls Varsity Basketball team! Here are some highlights from Coach Hoertkorn from last night's contest:

"The Varsity girls basketball team picked up a non- league win over Schuylerville last night. It was a great team effort, especially on the defensive end. The girls stepped up huge every time Schuylerville made a run.
Whitney Cameron had a double double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, along with 5 steals. She has been a great leader for us so far this season, but had one of her best defensive games getting many of those rebounds in the fourth quarter when Schuylerville was trying to keep the game close.
Isabella Craig had 6 points, and is always a spark for us on defense.
Taylor Stone had another great all around game with 4 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals.
The girls are working so hard, and continue to improve each day. Our next game is this Friday against Lake George at 7pm as we begin league play.

Keep up the great work, ladies!!! Go, Riverhawks!

BIG NEWS FROM OUR CHS MUSIC DEPARTMENT: Congratulations to Degan Reynolds, Sydney Crombach and Tristan Lozier on an outstanding Skidmore College Concert Band Performance.
Throughout the fall semester, these three student musicians along with Mrs. Crombach and Miss Lueck have been rehearsing with the Skidmore College Concert Band every Thursday night and on Sunday, December 3rd they performed on stage at the Arthur Zankel Music Center. Mrs. Crombach has been bringing students to Skidmore for the past couple of years as an effort to enrich and challenge some of her more accomplished student musicians. These students will be back for the Spring semester beginning at the end of January with a performance at the end of April. It is truly a unique experience for these students to perform alongside their teachers, community members and Skidmore College students and we look forward to continuing the partnership in the future. #CorinthisCommunity

Dear CCSD Families,

This week our school community will be focusing on the Other People Mindset of Supporting Others When They Struggle. This means when other people are struggling, we do our best to help them out.

Supporting other people when they struggle is a critical piece of being human. There are many different approaches to helping people who are struggling. These can include: listening while they describe an event and their feelings about it, taking action to help people in need, or simply just being there and sitting together in silence. Everyone faces tough days and needs support, and this support leads to a chain of prosocial behavior that makes us feel good about ourselves and our group.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families where together you can watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.

We hope that you will ask your student about the lessons, discussions and activities this week!
Have a wonderful week!

Wednesday, December 6th is WORLD TRAVELER WEDNESDAY in our Oak Street Cafeteria! This month, we are traveling to Sudan to try traditional native foods in honor of Mrs. Bardin's 7th grade ELA class!
Students are embarking on a new unit of journeys and survival as they explore the novel A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. Students will learn about the experiences of the people of Southern Sudan as they follow the story of Salva Dut, a lost boy who persevered and never gave up hope when he became a refugee during Sudan's second civil war.
Please encourage your student to try the new cuisine that our talented cafeteria staff will be preparing!
Interesting facts about Sudan:
1) Sudan is home to more pyramids than Egypt!
2) It was once the largest country in Africa!
3) In 1963, Jacques Cousteau set up the Continental Shelf Station Two, an underwater research center off the coast of Sudan.
4) Sudan is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. The Sanganeb Marine National Park and Dungonab Bay – Mukkawar Island Marine National Park have a variety of marine life. The Dinder National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Africa and is home to a diverse array of wild animals and birds.
